IMPD: Death Investigation on the 5200 block of Marrison Place

June 23, 2015 by Naptown Buzz

impd-badge-gold-300x300At approximately 1:03 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the 5200 block of Marrison Place on a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found an unidentified and unresponsive male with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.  EMS crews arrived and pronounced the victim deceased. The original 911 call stated the unidentified male shot himself in the head. However, detectives were given statements on the scene that are inconsistent which require further investigation.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency is processing the crime scene, and the Marion County Coroner’s Office will positively identify the victim.  Homicide detectives continue to canvass the area for additional information but urge anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers of Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS. Callers may also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274637 (CRIMES).
