Indians & Fifth Third Bank Stand Up to Cancer August 8th

August 1, 2014 by Naptown Buzz

indianapolis indians logoSince 2013, Fifth Third Bank has donated more than $2.6 million to Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C), a national cancer research organization. On Friday, August 8, Fifth Third and the Indianapolis Indians will celebrate the success of this partnership by hosting Stand Up To Cancer Night at Victory Field.

As part of Stand Up To Cancer Night, Fifth Third will donate $250 to SU2C for every strikeout recorded by an Indians pitcher during Friday’s game against the Rochester Red Wings. In addition, Fifth Third donated 200 tickets to Riley Hospital for Children for cancer survivors, their families and caregivers, while also inviting a cancer survivor out to throw a ceremonial first pitch.

“Fifth Third Bank is very proud of the great relationship we’ve formed with Stand Up to Cancer,” said Steven Alonso, regional president and CEO for the Greater Indiana Region. “Our Bank has always been focused on creating the greatest impact we can on the communities we serve. We are thrilled to be able to partner with the Indianapolis Indians for Stand Up to Cancer Night at Victory Field to celebrate our continued efforts to fund cancer research and encourage support for this tremendous cause.”

Fans also can get in on the action. Fifth Third will donate $1 for every photo with the SU2C check shared by fans at their display in the main concourse of Victory Field. Fifth Third also will hand out several giveaways, including sunglasses, hats and sunscreen, to remind people of the dangers of skin cancer during the summer. A special in-game t-shirt toss of SU2C t-shirts also will occur, and Fifth Third is a sponsor for postgame Friday Fireworks.
