Lebanon Utilities Celebrates Earth Day; Free Trees to Public

April 17, 2014 by Naptown Buzz

Lebanon Utilities will celebrate Earth Day by planting a tree as well as giving away 200 tree saplings on Tuesday, April 22 starting at 10 a.m. The celebration will take place at the Lebanon Parks & Recreation office, located at 130 E. Ulen Drive in Lebanon.

The public is invited to attend this celebration that reflects the company’s new branding  and  “green” initiatives as well as including its revamped eBill option.

The eBill feature allows customers to receive their utilities bills via email. This appealing and ecologically friendly new billing addition will significantly reduce Lebanon Utilities’ impact on the environment.

“If all Lebanon Utilities customers received their bills by email only, we could save 65 tons of paper or 400 trees a year in addition to saving energy, water, money and carbon emissions that come with paper production,” says General Manager Jay McCoskey. Other green initiatives include a portable, solar-powered charging station that Lebanon Utilities will provide throughout the community as well as investigating electric cars for their meter readers in the near future. In addition, they are installing solar street lights at the corner of Lebanon and Park streets in a pilot program to assess cost benefits and battery life.

In addition to McCoskey, other dignitaries on hand include Lebanon Utilities Chairman of the Board Dan Lamar and Lebanon City Council President Jeremy Lamar.
