The Indianapolis Zoo Board of Trustees held elections for officers and new members during its meeting Feb. 1. The new officers include:
• Dan Appel, Gregory & Appel Insurance — Chairman of the Board
• Mike Bosway, City Securities — First Vice Chair
• Jeff Harrison, Citizens Energy Group — Second Vice Chair
• Beth Cate, Associate Professor of Law & Public Affairs, Indiana University — Secretary
• Jim Powers, Crowe Horwath LLP — Treasurer
• Alan Cohen, Finish Line (retired) — Immediate Past Chair
Bob Laikin, founder of Brightpoint, who served as the company’s chairman until its sale in October, was elected to the Zoo’s Board of Trustees this year.
Newly elected members of the Indianapolis Zoo Advisory Council include: Brian Upchurch, President and Managing Director of Column Capital and a member of the Zoo’s Planned Giving Council; and Jill Burnett, head of the Maurer Family Foundation and a member of the Zoo’s Collections Committee.
Eleanor “Dickie” Bookwalter and Julia Lacy were both elected as Life Trustees.
