INDIANAPOLIS (January 2, 2013) – Kirk Hendrix, President & CEO of the 500 Festival, is leaving the organization after 10 years of service to become President & CEO of AAA Hoosier Motor Club.

“Under Kirk’s leadership, the 500 Festival has been successful on a number of fronts, foremost engaging more and more people in participation,” said Ted Dickman, 500 Festival Chairman of the Board. “Over the past 10 years, Festival events have performed for record crowds while also earning numerous international accolades. Kirk was instrumental in forging the many successes we have enjoyed. He has further strengthened the long-standing legacy of the 500 Festival and we are extremely grateful for his leadership. We are well-positioned to find a highly capable leader to succeed Kirk,” Dickman said.

Hendrix will continue to serve in his 500 Festival position into February and will work closely with Festival board leadership to ensure a smooth transition while the organization conducts a search for his replacement.

“I treasure my time with the 500 Festival,” Hendrix said. “It’s been the most impactful 10 years of my career and a rewarding part of my family’s life, as well. The 500 Festival has long held a special place in the community and to have had the chance to work alongside such a dedicated force of staff and volunteers has been a privilege.”
