Eagle Creek Park’s 25th annual “Celebration of Nature” Holiday Exhibit Dec. 1-9

November 30, 2012 by Brian Groce

Art and nature enthusiasts are invited to attend Eagle Creek Park‘s 25th annual “Celebration of Nature” holiday exhibit Saturday, Dec. 1 through Sunday, Dec. 9 at the park’s Earth Discovery Center, 5901 Delong Road.

“If you’re looking for a gift far from the ordinary, we offer a wide selection of art for sale, perfect for people with a great admiration for the outdoors,” said Jay Powell, Eagle Creek Park naturalist. “With gifting aside, it’s a great place to catch exquisite elements of nature through various art forms.”

Visitors can browse a variety of media including photography, woodcarvings, oil and watercolor paintings, and even pen and ink, all contributed by local artists.

All entries depict natural flora, fauna and landscapes that are undisturbed and can represent a variety of ecosystems found inIndianaand surrounding areas.

For more than two decades, dozens of artists have participated in this annual holiday exhibit, which is preceded by two nature-themed shows every year. The “Wood Carver and Turner” exhibit is set to take place Feb. 23-24, 2013 at the Earth Discovery Center.

“Celebration of Nature” exhibit hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Cost is free with park admission, which is $5 per vehicle.

A percentage of sales from the exhibit benefits the Eagle Creek Park Foundation whose mission is to protect, promote, enhance and support one of the largest city-owned parks in the nation.

For more information, call the Earth Discovery Center at (317) 327-7148, or log on www.eaglecreekpark.org.
