“The HeART of Summer” Opens July 6 at Stutz Art Space Gallery

July 2, 2012 by Mel McMahon

The Stutz Artists Association is teaming up with the American Heart Association to present “The HeART of Summer,” an exhibition featuring work exploring the human heart and summertime.

Participating artists will donate 20% of sales to Go Red For Women, a national movement founded by the American Heart Association to help women fight back against heart disease, their number one killer.  Artists presenting in the show include Susan Brewer, Lydia Burris, Martha Carlson, Leigh Dunnington-Jones, Wendy Franklin, Susan Hazer, Sarah Kercheval, Brian Myers, David Sloma, Martha Vaught, Vicky White, and Carol L. Myers.

Carol L. Myers is an artist and former nurse who worked in a coronary care unit and has produced 50 original prints that will be made available for sale for a minimum $20 donation.  All proceeds from the prints will benefit Go Red For Women.  Myers is also providing a hands-on activity to demonstrate the de-stressing and healing nature of art and creative work.

The show opens July 6, kicking off with a reception from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on opening night in conjunction with the Indianapolis Downtown Artists & Dealers Association‘s (IDADA) monthly First Friday gallery tour.  The exhibit will continue through July 27, with the gallery open from 11:00am to 2:00pm weekdays and by appointment.

Stutz Art Space is a nonprofit visual art center on the first floor of the Stutz Business Center.  Enter from 10th Street via Bearcat Alley.  For more information, visit www.stutzartists.com or (317) 503-6420.
