Derby City Thunder vs. Indianapolis Tornados Saturday, August 6th

August 3, 2011 by Brian Groce

The Gridiron Developmental Football League season continues on Saturday, August 6th, 2011, with a  game between the Indianapolis Tornados (7-0) and the the Derby City (Louisville) Thunder (7-0) in a match up that has been dubbed the “Game of the Week” by the GDFL.

The Tornados are currently ranked 3rd in the nation in the the GDFL polls out of 93 teams nationwide. The Thunder are currently ranked 10th. The game will be played at Park Tudor, 7200 N. College Avenue with a 7:00 kick-off.

This game, which is also “Fan Appreciation night”, is the last regular season home game for the Tornados. They will play one more game on the road on August 13th to wrap up the regular season. Given the Tornados record to date, the team expects to host one or two games in playoffs which begin on August 27th and culminate with a Championship game in Ashville, NC on September 24th.

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard will be an honoree at this game and conduct the coin toss. The team has also partnered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Indianapolis to host a special night for matches in the program.

Pre-game entertainment will begin at 6:15 pm and gates open at 5:30.

Tickets for the event are $10 for adults, $8 for youth (8-17), and children under 7 are free.
