Meridian-Kessler Historic Home & Garden Tour

June 3, 2010 by Naptown Buzz

Saturday & Sunday, June 19 & 20, Noon – 5 pm
www.mkhometour.com

Celebrate the eco-benefits of one of Indy’s oldest neighborhoods at the 37th annual Meridian-Kessler Home & Garden Tour.

The theme for the 2010 tour, “Green By Design, ” showcases the green qualities of historic areas. Mature trees provide shade and reduce pollution. Walking to dinner, shopping or to play at the park lessens car emissions. In addition, restoring and maintaining an existing home doesn’t use the natural resources that would be consumed to build new.

View seven vintage homes and one community garden. Tour homes are selected for their interior and exterior design as well as their distinguishing architectural elements. Proceeds from the tour support the Meridian-Kessler Neighborhood Association and its revitalization efforts.

Tour tickets can be purchased the day of the event for $15 at any tour home. A good place to start the tour is the home of David Helmer at 5909 N. Washington Blvd. Advance discounted tickets are available for $12 online at www.mkhometour.com or at the following retailers:
• G. Thrapp Jewelers (56th & Illinois St.)
• The National Bank of Indianapolis (49th & Pennsylvania St.)
• Taste Café (52nd & College Ave.)
• Aristocrat Pub & Restaurant (52nd & College Ave.)
• The Fresh Market (54th & College Ave)
• Paradise Bakery & Café (all 6 Central Indiana locations)

Spread the love
